SALT LAKECITY | Washington, D.C.(November 15, 2023) The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) announced it has elected Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes as its new chairman. Reyes, who was elected over the weekend, used his new role to promote the passage of a unanimous resolution in support of Israel after the horrific terrorist attacks by Hamas. Over 20 Republican attorneys general joined together to express unflinching resolve to stand with Israel.

Reyes is a past multiple term vice chairman for RAGA, the national organization currently representing 28 Republican attorneys general in America.

Commenting on Reyes’ leadership style, skill, and the respect he has earned nationwide from fellow attorneys general, four-term South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson stated, “When Sean came into office in 2013, he immediately rose in RAGA leadership ranks and became a voice for the U.S. Constitution and rule of law. By leading out on many legal victories, Sean has regularly put Utah front and center in the national spotlight.”

In addition to the resolution adopted by RAGA member states, Reyes penned an impassioned plea to U.S. Congressional leaders for immediate military, humanitarian and other aid for Israel. Joining Utah in reaffirming America’s commitment to its longstanding ally, 26 state AGs added their names to the letter. While condemning Hamas and arguing for Israel’s right to defend herself, the letter also denounces violence against the Jewish Community worldwide and states that American support for the Jewish people is urgently needed more today than at any time since World War II.

Wilson added, “I leaned on Sean’s counsel when he served as RAGA Vice Chairman during my two prior terms as RAGA Chairman. He is widely respected by his peers and is a national leader. Utah is fortunate to have such an effective Attorney General.”

Echoing Wilson’s sentiments, Indiana AG Todd Rokita explained why AG Reyes was chosen to serve, “Sean has been at the forefront of some of the most important constitutional fights in America and has a long track record of success. He is deeply respected by his peers and has earned our admiration because he is a principled and fearless fighter with tremendous integrity. Like our colleagues and I, Sean is willing to take on difficult issues like human trafficking, the border, ESG, opioids, mental health, social media and federal overreach, all of which are critically important today as we face strong attacks from those who want to weaken America.”

“We are extremely confident in General Reyes and our newly elected RAGA leadership team,” said RAGA Executive Director Peter Bisbee. “General Reyes is a tireless advocate for his home state of Utah and utilizes all opportunities to elevate Utah’s priorities on a national stage, many times resulting in other states following his lead on matters of public and legal policy. This year, General Reyes will work closely with his colleagues and the RAGA staff to flip control of open seats in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. RAGA spent more than $23 million in the 2022/2023 election cycle, and will once again resolutely stand by General Reyes and our other incumbents up for re-election with all the resources our organization has at its disposal.”

Reyes will serve as RAGA chairman through November 2024. For more information about Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes, visit www.seanreyes.com.
