SALT LAKE CITY—April 24, 2012—Utah Attorney General Republican candidate Sean Reyes garnered widespread delegate, legal and business community endorsements, and general support at the Utah Republican State Convention last Saturday. Reyes moves to the Primary election against an opponent who was appointed A.G. Deputy by retiring Attorney General Mark Shurtleff two years ago.
SALT LAKE CITY—March 12, 2012—Utah’s National Young Lawyer of the Year Sean Reyes officially declared his candidacy today in the Utah Attorney General race. Reyes, who brings a strong legal background at the federal, state, and local level as well as extensive leadership and community outreach experience, believes these qualifications are critical to advancing the mission and effectiveness of the Utah Attorney General’s office.

SALT LAKE CITY – March 20, 2012, by Meredith Forrest Kulwicki: Candidate for attorney general, Sean Reyes, joined Good Day Utah on Tuesday to discuss his campaign. Reyes said he traveled to many communities throughout the state before deciding to run for office. He said talking to people helped to reinforce his decision.

SALT LAKE CITY – Jan 28, 2012 - THE ECONOMISTSean Reyes, a lawyer who is running for state attorney-general, supports the creation of a “fraudsters registry”, similar to the one for sex offenders. “It’s amazing how many are repeat offenders,” he says. He also wants to explore the idea of reducing sentences for scammers who lead investigators to assets they have salted away. Most victims see a few pennies on the dollar returned, if that.http://www.economist.com/node/21543526

By Robert Gehrke. The Salt Lake Tribune – It hasn’t got the attention of other, higher profile races, but the contest for Utah attorney general has the makings for a big-time cage match, with the campaigns of the top two contenders combining to raise nearly $800,000 last year. Sean Reyes, a lawyer making his first bid for political office, reported raising $463,518 in 2011 — most of that coming from in-kind donations such as office space, supplies and staff from businesses and a law firm Reyes has worked with. SALT LAKE CITY – March 23, 2012 - SEAN REYES: As I travel the State campaigning to be Utah’s next Attorney General, concerned citizens regularly ask if I would fight against Obamacare. The answer is, unequivocally, yes! Not because I am blind to helping those who cannot afford healthcare insurance or oblivious to the need for improving the quality of healthcare. Rather, because Obamacare is simply the wrong vehicle for getting us where we need to be.

By Sean Reyes. as published in the Salt Lake Tribune. Jan 21, 2012. One of my primary roles as general counsel of a technology company is to protect and enforce intellectual property rights. I spend nearly every day in pursuit of modern-day corporate bandits who have stolen our patents, copyrights or trademarks. That is why I was encouraged when I first heard mention of legislation aimed at curtailing online piracy.

Sean Reyes Frequently Asked Questions
Have You Run for Office Before and What Is Your View of Politicians? I am not a seasoned politician and have never run for office before. My involvement in politics to date has been as a county, state and national (alternate) delegate, precinct leader and member of the State Central Committee along with appointments to serve on various commissions. I have walked precincts to register voters, volunteered at county and state conventions, organized various civics projects, constitutional classes and other educational programs; my model for anyone holding office as a public servant. Politicians care most about getting and staying elected. Public servants care about doing a good job and serving the people.

Protecting our Families

Keeping our families safe is my top priority, especially from violent crimes like domestic abuse and crimes towards children. As Attorney General, I will do my utmost to prosecute these crimes to the fullest extent of the law to help secure a safe living environment in which to raise our families.

Drug Crimes

Substance abuse affects many of our youth as well as other members of our society. From experimenting with medicinal drugs to hard, illegal substances, many are not only hurting themselves but their families and communities as well. As your Attorney General, I will work to keep illegal substances off of the street and to keep our communities safe from the dangers of drug abuse.

Health Care

Obamacare and the hundreds of federal regulations coming out of Washington DC will severely limit economic growth in Utah. Utah needs an Attorney General with experience in the courtroom to fight Obama’s unconstitutional mandates and regulations, specifically Obamacare. As your Attorney General I will aggressively oppose the implementation of Obamacare and any other federal program that infringes on our state sovereignty.

Efficiency and Transparency

Efficiency and transparency are key components to the foundation of a strong government. The ability for citizens to see what their representatives are doing is vital to prevent corruption. Efficiency and transparency in government will also do much to brighten the economic forecast. People need to see the government fighting against corruption – both in business and in its own practices.

White-Collar Crimes

As your Attorney General, I will prosecute those who do not follow current business laws. Business owners and consumers will be protected from those who wish to abuse the law. This protection translates to a better business climate for Utahns. New businesses will be encouraged to relocate to our state, knowing that they will be protected from these white-collar crimes.

Open Door Policy

In selecting cases and enacting policies for the Office of Attorney General, I will take into account the diversity we enjoy in this State. From city to rural interests, energy and conservation projects and from pioneer stock to new residents, enforcement of our laws have far-reaching effects. I commit to an open door and an open mind when it comes to concerns from industries as diverse as mining, construction, agriculture, manufacturing and banking, finance, direct sales, hospitality, entertainment, professional services and high tech. Input from the people of Utah is vital because the Attorney General should be the attorney of and for the people.

SALT LAKE CITY–(BUSINESS WIRE)–After 11 years and two appeals, eTAGZ, Inc. received yet more good news for its shareholders in the form of an official notice that their “granddaddy” patent was issued as of November 1, 2011 as U.S. Patent No. 8,050,964.

“Other claims are entirely independent and provide eTAGZ expanded scope when it comes to enforcement. I would be concerned if I were a business attaching DVDs or CDs to products without a license from eTAGZ.”
“Despite the solidity and breadth of our other patents, this new patent gives us further reach and additional strength to deter infringers,” said Sean Reyes, eTAGZ General Counsel and candidate for Utah Attorney General in 2012. “It will protect those partners who have properly licensed the attachment method from eTAGZ.”

eTAGZ already has three working patents related to its core business of helping companies increase sales and market presence through attaching CDs, DVDs, USB drives and other devices containing branding, promotional, instructional, entertainment and/or educational content to commercial products. Such attachment is currently prevalent throughout many industries, and is visible on products such as magazines, clothing, toys, videos, sports/fitness items and hunting/outdoor gear.

“This particular patent is one for which we have been trying to win approval since 2000 and was the precursor to several of our other patents,” said eTAGZ CEO Isaac Jacobson. “So it is particularly gratifying that the USPTO has finally made the correct decision and recognized, yet again, the validity of eTAGZ’s position in this space. We give much credit to the vision and persistence of our prosecution counsel, Jack Baird and Gordon Hill of Pate Baird, PLLC.”

“Because the new patent is so closely related to the current patents, several of the new claims reinforce eTAGZ’s existing claims,” said Joe Pia, senior partner of PADRM and lead litigation counsel for eTAGZ’s patent cases. “Other claims are entirely independent and provide eTAGZ expanded scope when it comes to enforcement. I would be concerned if I were a business attaching DVDs or CDs to products without a license from eTAGZ.”
